A colorful cover for the latest USA Philatelic (3rd Quarter, 2014). According to Linns Stamp News, this edition is out, but I haven't seen it either in my mail or online as of yet. Has anyone received theirs?

Not yet. ( when I think about it - that is a strange phrase.)

I was just looking at the stamps featuring the Farmers Markets and the "Grapes 8 ea." is being carried on the stamp itself. Maybe it meant "8 cents" each...even though it doesn't clearly say that with either a cent or dollar sign?

Anyway, the reference on the first stamp showing "Bread $7 lb." also seems pricey...and that item does clearly show a dollar sign.

I wonder if there's some backdoor meaning to using those prices or if it is just "artistic license"?

Maybe this will become a future stamp trivia question!

I suppose that's right ($7/loaf) but since most loaves of bread are by the pound it really comes out to the same thing ... still expensive for a loaf of bread no matter how you slice it!

I can see $7 for a loaf of artisanal bread at a farmer's market in a large city. I wouldn't pay that much myself, but I'm not real surprised by that number.

I do like the stamps, though, and will be sure to buy some for mailings. I like the colorful ones like these and the circus posters. They really grab your attention on an envelope.

Received my "hard copy" of USA Philatelic (3rd Quarter, 2014) with Farmers Market cover in the mail today. Have others received theirs yet?

Featured are details on new issues for the Farmers Markets, Janis Joplin, Hudson River School, Korean War Medal of Honor, Civil War (1864) and Fort McHenry (War of 1812) stamps.

Received my USA Philatelic Monday. Have you noticed that there are less opportunities for 'block' purchases and most commemoratives are offered in Sheets of 20? Only the Farmers Market issue is available in a strip of 4 with the remainder if the new issues sold in panes only. I believe that the local Postal retail units can only sell full sheets as well (policy prohibits the breaking of panes for single or block sales).

USA Philatelic does not necessarily list every configuration of stamps available. Yes, for "souvenir sheet" type stamps (War of 1812, Civil War, Music Icons, Legends of Hollywood, etc.) you do have to buy the whole pane, but for many of the others, a block (or strip) of stamps is still available, you just have to know the order number or call in your order to get it.

For example, on page 16 of the latest USAP, there is a listing for a block of 4 of the Shirley Chisholm Stamp, but no listing of a block of 4 for the March on Washington Stamp. Well, you can get a block of 4 of the March on Washington Stamp (even though not listed in USAP) by checking the USPS website as shown here:

In other words, don't trust USAP to be the final word on these things. There are several instances where they fail to list certain available configurations. It's up to the consumer/collector to tell the USAP agent exactly what they want and very often it is available.

Those prices muse be New York City farmer's market prices. No wonder it's so expensive to eat healthy. I prefer my inexpensive local Mennonite market.

I think the artist could not make up his mind either. He's got flowers for $10 and a bouquet ( which looks similar ) for $12 next to it! A bunch of flowers normally runs $3.50 or three for $10.00 at my local farmers market or Kroger!

These are "Forever" stamps. Maybe artist wanted to keep the prices relevant 5 yrs from now with the way food prices keep going up these may be bargain prices by then.
