It could have been a hinge....
Just applied to the stamp with too much moisture.

I would be interested in the first four as singles. Art has the best suggestion. Keep one and sell the rest as singles. Disturbed gum doesn't bother me. I mount all my Mint Stamps and don't look at the back of them anyway.
