Hi All,

Everyone thank you for all the reactions.
I'm going to read all your posts thoroughly tomorrow.
Because I am simply too tired now, it is here 12:04 am (or 00:04).

See you'll later, I'm off to bed.
Greetings, Rik

Sorry for the double post.
I think I'll go for a Sakura catalogue.

Thank you all for your help!

Kind Regards,

Rik

I think you'll be happy with the decision to get the Sakura catalogue, Rik.

It's not totally bilingual, but the major information is. I know others who use it without any Japanese language background. But if you have difficulty figuring things out, feel free to post your questions on the board, or to contact me directly.

Good luck with this, and enjoy!

Dear fellow stampworld members,
Sorry for the bump.

I've laid down my Japan stamp collection for a while.
But now I want to put them in my albums on Michel catalogue numbers.
That because I often receive Japanese booklets from my stamp club numbered in Michel.

Sakura has other catalogue numbers, am I right?

Currently I have them now sorted by theme, and on stampworld.com I cannot find all the stamps.
How can I get my Japanese stamps in an album on Michel numbers?

Kind regards, Ricky93

I'd get a Sakura or JSDA catalog, both small size and all in color. Both use the same numbering system and separate commemoratives from definitives from booklets from national parks from New Year issues, etc. So yes, different catalog numbers from Michel. But dates and color pictures would make it easy to identify stamps like the definitives in slightly different colors. The catalogs are both reasonably priced with "old new" versions quite cheap. They are, like US catalogs, already dated 2019 if you want the newest one.

But if I buy a Sakura catalog, is there any index in it? So that I can find stamps on themes? Or something like that.

I don't know if this will help you or be any faster, or how much you know about the stamp you are trying to find. But if you go to ebay.com and search Japan and a year in stamps, you will see listings of possibly most of the stamps Japan issued that year, but realize that you might also get the stamp whose catalog number matches that year.

Here, for example, I have entered Japan 1952 in stamps in my search, with the results shown in the link.

Using this, you can go through your stamps and pick out whatever you have from the stamps of the year shown.

Is the Sakura catalog fully English and Japanese?
I've never seen a Sakura catalog from inside, can someone who has a Sakura catalog make a photo of one or two pages?

Then I can decide if I want to buy it.
Thanks for all the help!
