I'm sure someone has mentioned this book already, Nassau Street,by Herman Herst, Jr., but I am reading it now and can't put it down.

What a great story about the "glory days" of stamp collecting. Wish I could have been around then.

Billig's Philatelic Handbooks. Yes, another addition to the library and some great reading ahead. Finally pulled the trigger as the deal was just to good for the set to pass up.

Thanks to a surprise parcel from ROD, I now have a new book in my library!

I just opened it and thumbed through the first few pages when I saw this chart about KGV Colors:

But what I really LOVE are the simple precautions:

* Work only by daylight
* Rest the eyes every few minutes
* Admit only stamps with clean white margins

Good advice!

Thank you Rod for you generosity!

You're welcome Kirk :)
It's a little aged,
but will give you some in depth of Australia fly specks.

The logo's on the cover are nice,
try and find the "ABC" logo stamp, that is a famous unknown error :)
The logo is around the wrong way.

Just came from a local thrift shop where I picked up a 1983 Edition of Stanley Gibbons Stamp Catalogue Part I British Commonwealth.
Don't know why I grabbed it, it's obviously out of date and the pictures aren't the greatest, but I'm a Scott's guy, and this has bits of info not included in the Scott's book.
Nice big, bulky hard cover. Just don't tell the missus, she's already planning a yard sale for the spring, and this would be prime material for her.

Here's a picture of this big Bad Boy!

Also figured this was a good reason to revive this thread. Lots of new members here. Let's see what they read!
