Latest addition has been Hermann Schloss's "Distinguishing Characteristics of Classic Stamps: Old German States". The APS book store had 2 old used copies sitting there, I grabbed one. Seems to still hold a lot of perfectly useful information. |

I just received Schmid's "The Expert's Book" in the mail. I'm hoping to finally learn the differences between the various Washington-Franklins.

re: "The Expert's Book" I can think of several people you can loan it to when you are finished. |

The 1930 Gibbons Part 1 arrived yesterday. As it was published in September 1929 the introductory notes are quite bemusing. Anyway, here's a pic of the old SGs |

As I have a bit of a book collecting habit I look away when I come across early editions of SG catalogues in case I suddenly find I have a shelf of them. Digressing, I have to do the same when it comes to books with lovely covers - if I didn't suddenly we'd have twice as many books as we do now and we already have a couple of thousand! But those catalogues look really tempting |

I've just added these to my shelf. Hellas 2018 in 3 volumes, bilingual, full colour and specialised. Only 15euros plus postage from A.Karamitsos in Greece. Even if you don't collect or sell Greece, these will pay for themselves pretty quickly at this price |

I've just bought a brand new 2015 copy of the Switzerland and Liechtenstein Zumstein catalog. A lot of interesting reading and very useful for mounting my used Switzerland collection. |

Haven't read it, not sure I will lol. The owner of a used book store a couple blocks away, hangs on to any philatelic related books for me to check out. |

Many thanks to SCF member YeaPolska for providing the ebay link to the latest addition to my philatelic library.. What a great resource! This 390 page self-published book is well organized and very comprehensive. Sample entries explain how symbols and dates are used. George K. Kay put an incredible amount of work into this book. |

I picked up a copy of the Floyd Risvold auction catalog.
It is a 3-volume Hardbound, beautifully made set of catalogs by Spink-Shreves from 2010.
This was an amazing collection that truly combined American History with postal-history, maybe better than its ever been done before. |

A couple recent additions to my library: First, Günther Hass' Deutsche Postorte 1490-1920 (German Post Locations 1490-1920) Second, this one's not a philatelic book, but it's useful for my ship post collection -- Charles Hocking's two-volume Dictionary of Disasters at Sea During the Age of Steam 1824-1962. It lists ship losses worldwide from 1824-1962. |
