One man's terrorist is other man's freedom fighter.
Although it may be the Canadian way to say "Excuse me, would you please stop apartheid, if it's not too much trouble", I think the mother country usually needs a more violent nudge. Like in 1861-65.

Nelson Mandela was the second of five honorary Canadians and recipient of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize.

Mandela is a large enough figure that I'd venture to guess that most countries will honor him at some point or another. While Mandela was indeed a founder of MK, he had nothing to do with it by the time of the incidents mentioned earlier in this thread and was firmly ensconced in prison at the time. Regardless, the peaceful transition of power in South Africa after his release is what he'll be remembered for and was nothing short of miraculous. I'm unsure of Canada's history of honoring people with chequered pasts, but if he ever ends up on a US stamp, he'll join a long list of other people deemed criminals by the governments of their time, such as Washington, Jefferson, Robert E Lee, Jefferson Davis, Marin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Jesus, etc.

How about a series on dangerous animals from Canada? Like the Killer Whale, the Mosquito, the lime decease carrying flea, bed bugs, politicians, the solitary worm, this year flu bug....and the list goes on....

I think we've had killer whales on a stamp before and definitely
plenty of politicians.

Not sure of those other dangerous animals.

lithograving: The American Civil War 1861-65
It killed more Americans than all other wars combined.
Slavery was abolished as a result.

A Canada Post Philatelic employee just advised me that they do not have any information on any stamps in the "preorder" section of the web site. Like us, they have to wait until the "Details" magazine is issued to know Issuance Date, number issued, etc., etc., etc.

I guess that this comment has been made before but it is still valid in that there are too many new issues these days compared to before.

Wow, persons of different peoples,

Stop it with the negative waves Moriarity, stop it with the negative waves. Geeze. (Kelly's Heroe's reference)

I think it is OK to put a fella on a stamp that compares to other worldwide citizens who have made a difference for humanity. Whaat's the problem with that?

Should I quote Gandhi or something? Trudeau?

Where are these dangerous politicions? Where are they? Jethro, get my salt gun. Oh, I forgot, this is Canada, we don't have guns here.

Just received this today in the Halifax mails / post. A nice Canada 2015 Nelson Mandela stamp. It is so nice to get a stamp that has a nice smile on it that brings a tear to my eye.

New type of cancel for the machines here also.
