Hi Guys,
Two (2) weeks ago, I was able to purchase a 64 page stock book for $29.99 plus shipping of $8 from IHOBB.COM. I requested that they ship the package through the post office and use stamps so that I can use them for my collection. The package arrived safely after 3 days from order and everything was alright.
Tonight, I decided to purchase the same 64 page stock book for my US stamps and made a similar request regarding the use of stamps. This time, they informed me that there will be an additional $7.50 charge. I find the change in policy crazy and I was outraged by the additional postage since I think it would even be cheaper to ship by postoffice rather than UPS. As a matter of principle, I told them to cancel my order and not charge my credit card.
Anyway, just would like to ask for your opinion where I could purchase a stock book at a reasonable price online and from whom you have had good experience dealing with..and if possible-allowing the use of stamps in their package?
Thank you very much John

John, tell them to take a flying leap. Start maybe with the stamp suppliers like Subway,Amos. These are pretty much high in price but better than others. The best way to get stock books though are on auction sites. Most will list new publications at great discounts. Or find a collection you like and the album is usually free with your bid on the stamps. Beat cha Greg by 21 seconds. |

I have purchased a few items, over the years, via mail, from Subway Stamps. I have also purchased from them at the NYC Mega-Stamp Event. They even brought album supplies I asked them to bring, so I could pick-up those items at the show and save the postage costs to Canada. They're wonderful people to deal with, and I've never had a problem. I recommend them. David |

Occasionally, some dealers have specials at the stamp shows. I got minuteman U.S. album in 2000 at the big annual show in Orlando for $15.00. it went to 1994. Just sold it to a good stampoffers guy for his grandson. I started making my own albums and using stampalbums.com. A very good site. $20.00 a year and you can print all the album pages you want. it is mentioned several other places here on SCF. |

Bobg4: It is to me because I take the pages rearrange them by literally hand cutting and pasting them in exact scott # order, use my spreadsheet to print #'s , cut and paste the #'s under each block, then rescan the page and have an album page with the stamps in Scott # order. I love it. A hail of a lot of work but well worth it to me. Have made Canada (4), U.S.(5+) , G.B., Ireland & Australia albums all for 40 bucks. the thing is they are so easy to use and keep track of. Spent yesterday morning seaching for Australia on Stampwants. will do the same on stampoffers soon. BTW: Ink cartridges refilled at Walgreens for $10.00 for black, $15.00 for color. Occasionally they run a sale 1/2 price. Also computer cut & paste is another one of my computer failures in addition to doing pics. again i'm computer challenged. (challenged-that politically correct for retarded). |

Bob What kind of printer to you have.Mine is a HP photosmart, the kind that does everything(print, scan etc), and I've been working on the same cartridge that came with it. I've had it for a year. I've printed all Canada and Vatican City. I saw a Laser printer for $69.00 at our local Coop last week and I'm thinking of getting it just for this purpose. Dianne |

Not all dealers use stamps, Subway does most if not all the time. IHOB will use them on small orders and is one of the companies I rates the highest for customer satisfaction.
I have really cut cost on my stock books, I make them myself. For my growing foreign stamp collection I use manila stock pages. I can put two of them into a sheet protector then I buy a binder and I have a cheap stock book.
They work pretty well though I have considered using some of the clear type stock pages for the future. The nice thing about doing it this way I can do each page for a country and move them around when needed. |
