Brake -

On a different note it is true that surgical forceps are available quite long, especially when designed for Bariatric procedure sets. That said, I do not know of any forceps that would be remotely appropriate for philatelics. Think about the purpose of surgical forceps - the are designed to reliably GRIP things or occlude things (eg artery forceps). As such, they all have ridges, texturing, points, or other forms of gripping surfaces manufactured onto the distal tips (business end) that could damage stamps.

Yes, on a much more serious note, I looked thru tons of tweezers and wondered if these might be suitable by your description...the flat tips are small and rounded, but I don't think the ends are too small that the stamp would be harmed.

But they aren't silver, these would probably be stainless steel (unless by silver you meant color)...

Sorry I'm just getting back to this thread now.

I meant to reply earlier that, while I like the thinking out of the box about the surgical forceps, I do agree that, unless there are some where the pads are deliberately smooth, they would be too risky for stamps. (That's why regular tweezers from the store are not a good choice.)

But this did cause me to do a Google search again and look at some other options, but I never saw any stamp tongs except that were 4-3/4" long or else 6" long.

Perhaps I'll find a vintage set online sometime.

My thanks to all!

Wasn't there a president that decided his fingers were good enough???

Anyways... Amos sells very nice tongs. I find that the leave NO marks on any type of paper. Safe surfaces, and edges.
Modern technology, though this is primitive by the term, is quite wonderful.

If you really want it to be silver, can you buy something that isn't and have it silver plated?
