Stamp Nut. There are many of us that have had issues with Apfelbaum that has been going on for decades. I, and many others have been banned for returning fakes and forgeries. I emailed Tom for years as an outraged consumer. After a few years I realized that Apfelbaum has a consistent but flawed attitude and way of doing business. I relayed to Missy at Apfelbaum that I now understand their business "model" and was reinstated. Made me feel better. Once reinstated I calmed enough to stop obsessing and never purchased from them again. Move on and keep on stamping.

I'm not obsessing over the issue, I simply wanted to make those unfamiliar with Apfelbaum's ways aware. Although you may be, there are many new and/or returning collectors who don't know. If they've read the post, they do now. As for moving on as you put it, I was never stuck in place. That which I'm committed to I have been all my life. I'll always despise deceitful practices and I'm always stamping!

There are many businesses I boycott, one since 1984, and the list does include Apfelbaum. I dont care if anyone joins me or even knows I am doing it. I am not banging my head against a brick wall, I feel better buying from businesses that deserve my money.

I am awaiting a response from SAN to see if they will contact Apfelbaum and have them either remove the listing all together or at minimum remove the scan of 519 & 595 along with the Scott #'s. For me, that will determine if I make purchases via SAN in the future and I would hope that others reading this agree. If the website can't see this as out and out deception, than how can anyone have trust in any of the listings? I'm hopeful they will do their part and request Apfelbaum make the changes or remove it all together. I can't expect SAN to police all the Dealers, but once brought to their attention, they should be ethical and do their part for the sake of the hobby and show they have intergrity.

Excellent StampNut !
I did it this way on the other thread and got a bit impatient and wrote to Kelleher too. But they did get the message from SAN and responded to it by withdrawing the 2 lots in question....possibly with a bit of help via the 'extra' nudge !

I hope you get the same result. You deserve it.

First & foremost, I take no credit. My posting undertaking was a matter of principal and my desire to inform those who may not have been aware of deceptive listings being offered by Apfelbaum's. It is my opinion that when a firm offers a lot of stamps which has scans identified by Scott # of high value stamps and which when directly asked, a representative of that firm indicates that unless those stamps are part of the "written description" they should not be considered as genuine...IT IS DECEPTIVE.
I had a third email with Tom from SAN. As of the time I last added to this post, that listing has since been removed. I'm not aware of anything else, but I'm glad the end result is it is no longer posted.

By contrast, I was telephoned this afternoon by an auction house with which I regularly bid. It advised me that it had discovered that part of its description of one of the items I'd bid on from this week's sale was wrong, and asked if I wished to remove or alter my bid. It's not all jungle out there!

GeoffHa;

Very true. We tend to focus on the bad guys and rarely credit the good guys! Maybe we need a thread that talks about GOOD experiences?

Geoffha would you mind sharing the name of this action house? People are asking to list the bad apples but listing the good one would give them more business

Yes, it's Warwick & Warwick in England. Probably only practicable for North American buyers for small or more valuable lots because of postage costs:
