Rod, you've gone above and beyond the call of duty here - is there something like a philatelic medal that I can award you, something to wear proudly on your chest? If so, it's yours. Your top scan shows a paper similar to my stamp in that it shows elements of fibre in the rag paper. The bottom stamp though appears to be of a totally different quality and I think it even shows elements of a design to it (lozenges?) Anyway, at such a remove from the stamp's appearance, I doubt whether any more information is forthcoming. I am encouraged though, by use of the words "believed to be" and "most likely" - these leave room for a bit of manoeuvre and are in no way absolute. So, with that bit of wishful thinking, thanks again.
I think it HIGHLY unlikely that at least one out of four sides wouldn't show evidence of rouletting - which leaves a) printer's waste b) a true imperforate.
