Any Seller Ever Been Offered To Sell His Entire Listings?

Buyer sends me this below message through ebay, failing to take into account the value of my listed items as stands is at $4500+ not considering the multiple bids at end of ebay auctions would make it worth more, his message


Would you sell everything you have displayed? Offering 1800.00 USD

Ignore it - the guy is fishing. It's also against ebay's rules to send such an offer and it's reportable.

I told him he has to bid they are all in auction or buy it now. That is sure the craziest message I ever got though.

Why not? Well 49 items have bids already and it would be impossible to end the whole ebay store even if he offered a higher price. And maybe he never pays so safer if he just bids on the whole ebay store at asking price and see what he wins

Again whenever you receive a message from another ebay user this notice is automatically included: "Do not respond to the sender if this message requests that you complete the transaction outside of ebay. This type of offer is against ebay policy, may be fraudulent, and is not covered by buyer protection programs."

If money were no object, there are a couple of sellers on ebay I would be tempted to make offers to buy their entire inventory. In your case, the guy is almost certainly fishing - but why let it bother you? I have always believed that it is better to be told 'no' than to have never asked my question in the first place ...

It would be different if it were solely for BIN items. I have had offers related to a number of items (not a whole store of course!).

These items were not set up to allow Best Offer, but that is how I dealt with it. I revised the items desired with the "Best Offer" option, informed the buyer the price that would be accepted for each item so the total added up to what he wanted to spend overall.

Purchases were made, combined invoice sent, money received and everyone was happy (including ebay).

I had something similar a couple days ago. I just sell cheap packets at fixed prices, and some guy emails me asking if he can get a special price on qty 100. I don't have enough stamps to do 100 packets, and even if I could, there would be tons of duplicates, which I told the buyer. It sounded fishy to me and I haven't heard back from him since. It was an international buyer as well, but said I could ship to a US address. If this buyer ends up buying from me, even in small qty, I think I'll refund their money immediately and block them.

I once made an offer to a seller to buy multiple items he had on auction that had no bids on them. No intent to bypass ebay, just interested in scooping up some interesting stuff efficiently. He quite properly responded that he would wait to the end of the auctions and then set up a BIN for the items on the agreed upon price. We finished the transaction within ebay and everyone was happy. As long as there is no intent to circumvent the ebay rules, I see no reason why potential buyers should be reluctant to propose whatever they want to; all the seller has to do is say no or ignore it. No harm in asking; you don't know what might happen unless you try.

I do it all the time on items I see going unsold or languishing. Nothing wrong with it at all.

I've done it in the past when it appears a seller is breaking apart a collection that I may want to purchase as a whole. However, I'm a lot more subtle in my approach and quickly take the messages to email outside ebay's message system if there appears to be any interest.

I agree on auction items...they should never be ended.

As for as ending items and him paying....
Nothing gets ended until he has paid....
thru ebay you can click 2 buttons and end ALL of
you store items immediately. That is not hard to do.

I would never end any auctions no matter what price bidders offer I always tell them to bid if they want the covers that bad. I think he is bidding he wrote back and said my items were very appealing to him. I like to be fair to all bidders and give them all a chance to win its never a good idea to end things early. I don't mind selling ended auctions that went unsold.

Ending auctions with active bids, I agree. You don't do that. But if an auction has zero bids, I have no reservations about contacting the seller and making an offer. Depending on (1) whether it is the first time listing versus a relist, and (2) how far it is into the auction term, sometimes a seller will convert it to a Buy It Now on the fly. Some sellers will and some won't. It can't hurt to ask.
