In another thread this topic came up. It was said that this is a reflection of what you support. I'd like to hear why you chose a particular stamp as an avatar. I chose mine because of my interest in sound and Hollywood films.

When we were children, my brother & I discovered an old pile of postcards in an abandoned farmhouse across the road from our grandfather's farm. On one of the postcards was a one-cent stamp that I had never seen. The 1913-14 Balboa, along with the much later 1948 Swedish Pioneer Centennial stamp, triggered my lifelong love affair with stamps.

The CF100. This is the first aircraft I flew with the RCAF on 423 Squadron in 2 Fighter Wing,France during the '50s and '60s. Still have active contact with all the other aircrew who served on the Squadron. |

I chose my avatar because it is emblematic of the colorful beauty of the engraved stamps of French Southern and Antarctic Territories and of Pierre Bequet, one of my favorite engravers (along with Albert Decaris). Plus I think it is just looks pretty cool. |

Sent another email. I want to discuss Linux with you.

My Dad flew in Lancasters at the end of WWII after training in Canada. Just looking at a picture of him and his fellow "students" on an air bombers' course at Malton, Ontario in 1943.

I posted mine because the hand cancel (which you can hardly see) looks so perfect unless under close inspection. I don't even collect revenues. Also like the engraving.

The manuscript cancel on the documentary, is my great-grandfather's signature. He collected for cancels. I thought it fitting I use his signature cancel, as an avatar, in the community that is helping me identify the cancels he collected. |

Mine was an obvious choice. A part of my life that I don't talk about very much but will never forget.
On a lighter note: Mom gave away my very rare world-wide stamp collection in my Ambassador Stamp Album (by Harris?) while I was gone !!
I miss all those short set CTO's.

My first and only Scott # 1. Although not overly expensive, it's the stamp that had eluded me my whole life until last year |

Hopefully over a period of time everyone will contribute their story of choosing an avatar |
