I think many on here are aware it is possible to buy the Mystic heirloom album pages for the hingeless album without mounts. You have to call Mystic, they are $24.50 per unit.

I did so last week, planning to remount my US collection on the heavier pages using black Hawid mounts. They arrived today. They are very nice and so far am happy. I had bought a unit of hingeless pages a couple years back that I had to return because of issues with wrinkling on the pages. I think these pages are heavier than what they were using previously and have a more white and less 'creamier' shade. No sign of any ripples on these. I think Mystic quietly changed some things about these to heavier stock.

Anyone else notice any difference in this product lately or am I imagining things? So far I am very happy. Just wish they had pages for Plate blocks..

Stamps1962,

Do you have the MYSTIC part number for those pages? I may order a set to compare with what I have now (Premium Heirloom). I am very happy with my setup. It presents itself very well (spread out over 14 Premium albums), especially with the Showgard black mounts I am using. I just question the test of time as I would think heavier pages would be better.

Don't have a stock # but I bought part one, 1847-1934. I have some Hawid black mounts arriving any day now and am looking forward to seeing how they look in that one. I have been using the regular, lightweight, pages enclosed in protectors, that setup is nice but very bulky. The whole set for US takes up I believe 14 binders. I think I can free up some shelf space and get a better visual effect without all the plastic between me and my stamps.

Update- per the packing slip the item number for these pages is DS126.

Stamps1962,

Thanks for the info. DS 126. I went to the MYSTIC site and see that DS126 is for hingeless pages plus the album. $100-. I will call them sometime today and will update. I'm also interested in blank pages as well as the pages you are talking about.

Sorry, this makes no sense to me. "Hingeless Without Mounts" is an oxymoron.

If they're HINGELESS, they have mounts.

If they don't have MOUNTS, then they're just "pages"

???

KirkS,

I was wondering about that, too.

Stamps1962,

You say you have the packing slip. Do you receive "Hingeless pages without Mounts?

I am assuming you have your tongue planted firmly in your cheek.

Maybe a better thread title would have been 'Mystic Pages originally intended for Hingeless Album, Purchased separately for purpose of affixing my own mounts'. I think I would have run out of space. As stated-yes it is an oxymoron; with humor.

Clarification- these are the same pages Mystic sells in their hingeless album but with no mounts attached. Guess I don't see what's so hard to follow with that but maybe I assumed people would know what I meant. Not the best assumption I guess.

Stamps1962,

Yes, its clear what you are saying. But was this a special order? It doesn't seem that it is one of MYSTIC's stock items. At least, that's what customer service is telling me. Have you received them yet?

OK- here is the text of the reply I got from Mystic when first asking about these pages:

'Thank you for your email. Pages only, with no mounts, cost $24.50 per volume. They are a special order item and need to be purchased through our customer service department at 1-800-433-7811.'

They may not have a stock number as such assigned to them and the # appearing on my invoice may be a control # or something. I did receive them. Try calling the number they quoted me- not sure but I think it's not the regular customer phone number.

Thank you Stamps1962. That is helpful. Special order. Will you post us when you receive the pages? And do you think they may have matching blank pages as well?

Yes, there it is -- notice the complete absence of the word HINGELESS .

I see what you mean now, but you have to admit, "hingeless with mounts" is a curious turn of phrase.

Why is my use of the term 'hingeless' such an issue? I don't get it. Do you want me to apologize, or what?

Of course not, Stamps1962. I think you are on to something rather good. Then again, maybe not. I really think we should all clam up until you actually receive the pages. That will be be the proof in the pudding. Then you can tell us for sure. Please let us know!

I have these pages now, note my phrase 'They arrived today' in my first post.

No review until I get the chance to work with them this weekend. My Hawid mounts have arrived so I will let everyone know how it went.

Side question- someone on a other thread- or even another board- was saying they use glue stick to affix mounts, that this reduces the chance of wrinkling the page and also makes it easier to preposition or move the mount later. Anyone else doing this/

I have been using glue sticks for years and they work great, no water to ruin gum by accident, no drops, sticks very well.

I use Elmer's School Glue Sticks

Not at all. Are you angry at me because I questioned your terminology?

Philately is full of dissimilar terms -- "MNH vs. MUH" and "Tongs vs. Tweezers" spring to mind. SCF is a place where we can all learn.
