This is a great thread. Based on the stamps, does anyone have a view on which countries are the most "safety conscious?" And in which years were countries most focused on safety? And why? Did Ralph Nader's work affect the spate of traffic safety stamps? Or was there an international effort focused on safety in the late 60s and early 70s? |

This stamp issued by Austria in 1975 to promote wearing a seat belt is a powerful image.  Otto Stefferl designed a few more graphic images for this issue, but they were rejected.   I borrowed these two above from Ramon's Blog Stamps and Artists That site is a treat to look through especially if you like engraved stamps. It is in Spanish but Google will translate to English automatically. |
