I see these stamps for sale on ebay, stamped for EUR225, could anyone estimate the value of my 10 piece block?

As the Gibbons CV for these stamps individually is 15 pence each, your ebay seller must be an optimist!

The stampworld catalogue states 400EUR, it's actually on ebay for $900. Is there an expert around?

Your block are regular Spanish Philippines issues, and are pretty common. The expensive ones are Spanish Philippines issues that have the "Marianas Islands" overprint.

This block was collected by my great grandfather between 1914 and 1918 while he lived in the Philippines.

If I'd want to have these certified by an expert where should I go? I live in Holland.

What does this mean "The Marianas Islands" overprint?

Comparing I don't see any difference?

The left one is on ebay with certificate, right is mine:

As a reprint, does it have any value? And why don't I find these reprints in the catalogue? Another year?

Alright, I understand. Overprinted "MARIANAS ESPANOLAS".

So do these reprints have any value?

The overprint is those words that look like a cancel that reads "Marianas espa ņolas". Your block is NOT overprinted so not from Marianas Islands.

No need for an expert.

Paul, some of this stuff ( reprints ) may not be in a catalog. Sometimes they were reprinted by unscrupulous stampdealers or other individuals just to make a buck off of unsuspecting individuals. I am not saying that this is the case here, but I do trust Paco and his judgement!
Some of this material gets talked about in a magazine and I am sure the stamps above have had their turn in literature!

Peter

It sais 1898 Sc# 199

I think $7 would be a fair price.

What I've also noticed is that my sheet is one of the early ones with sheet# 0.000.351 Another sheet I found on the net was # 0.013.194

Does it matter to the value of a plate block wether it's an early press or a later one?
