Construction of the Grand Palais began in 1897.........as part of the preparation works for the Universal Exposition of 1900. The structure was built in the style of Beaux-Arts architecture.  |

When it was built it was the tallest building in the city and South America. The steel-structured skyscraper measures 100 meters and has 18 floors; each floor has a unique design and ornamentation.  |
