There are some negative people (collectors and dealers) and usually can be overcome especially if the non-negative people are active. However, if the only ones posting are negatives ones, it sets the tone for the whole group..just like the person that goes to a new stamp group and gets the cold shoulder.

I certainly haven't been in it for the money. Luckily, I have found someone who has the same passion as I do. He is in the will and will carry on.

NEGATIVE PEOPLE ???? ---are usually people who got hurt in dealing with others in the stamp trade , it could be from other collectors at stamp clubs or on ebay . But it is mostly from stamp dealers who know how to play the game .
Why nobody writes about all the different games that are used in philately is a serious problem .

Post his details here, and we'll bury him.

My brief experience collecting stamps thus far has been overwhelmingly positive. I have found most people to be great, very helpful and patient. Mind you I have not dealt much with dealers, maybe the odd one on ebay and I am not buying anything all that expensive.

I have noticed (not specific to this forum) that some people complain about new collectors and their questions sometimes, and then express concern about the future value of their collection. Seems like a bit of a disconnect.

We were all beginners at one time. I told one noted dealer / auctioneer off over the phone some years ago. Now I'm a very advanced collector so for me to get upset with a dealer it takes a lot. If I come across someone being a BIG problem, I'll tell them what they are. I never again bid in his auctions or bought anything from him.

99% of all the people I meet in our hobby are good and willing to help everyone.
