Attended the First Day of Issue ceremony for the Baby Wild Animal booklet pane at the Rocky Mountain Stamp Show this morning. It was my first FDOI ceremony. Great show so far.

What do you call your country? Are you the President? Have you put yourself on a stamp?

I spent most of the day researching Tunisian stamps in an attempt to identify those that were designed and/or engraved by Pierre Gandon... various catalogues and lists attribute stamps to him that don't have his signature and don't necessarily look like his work. Then I looked at the Sunday Quiz posted on SCF and the mystery image was a stamp from Tunisia which I recognized and won 2 points!

Think I have knocked the rust off. Stopped collecting in about 1989, and stopped until December 2024. Got a Harris Liberty A album which is a big upgrade from my previous US album, a paperback from Harris that I got in elementary school.

I have sorting Philippine Spanish period revenues.

I really do not have enough to create pages for them but need to find a way to organize. The Barefoot catalog is not as specialized as the Warren (1967) catalog but seems comprehensive enough. Edifil is not as comprehensive (all types of revenues) as either. Others I have found online are Forbin and Bartels. There is another catalog by Paulo Barata that I have not seen,

Today I worked on organizing my 1966 to 1980 MNH Spain purchase. Also watched some Youtube videos on buying kiloware and soaking stamps off paper. I'm not sure how I want to start a used stamp collection yet.

I finished identifying some Tunisia stamps and then adding them to StampManage. The next step is to modify the Steiner pages to add catalog and pages numbers.

Rainy Sunday morning, going thru 16 approval books I found at a local flea market yesterday. Each book has 10 pages, room for 25 stamps on each page. Most of the books are full, 3 or 4 have a few empty pages. The good thing is there are none of the usual blank spots with hinge remnants so no one has picked thru these before me. The lady originally wanted $10 per book but I got her down to $30 for all 16 of them. None of the stamps are US except, oddly enough, 17 copies of US scott 797, the 10c Smokey mountains imperf souvenir sheet. Top finds on the first run thru - Great Britain 4 pence scott 26, bunch of French airmails, including C25. Going to be a few days to empty these.

I searched the internet for few stamps I couldn't find in the Scott catalogue. However, I couldn't find detailed information other than a Scott number, so I am sort of limited in that respect.

I've started working through 2 bankers boxes full of worldwide stamps ending at roughly 1970 . Not very much by way of truly early stamps, and no Germany and no USA either. Even though I have 100,000+ already, I am finding many pre-1955 stamps I need. If the pace keeps up, it'll be well worth the effort.

I received my ebay purchase of 2 Scott Specialty albums today. One is Austria with pages from 1860 to 1992 and the other is Germany with pages from 1862 to 1974. Both albums were unused with very slight signs of age. I figured I'd get started getting the countries I have most stamps of out of the 102B cards. Mounted about 50 stamps into the Austria album so far. Also today, I bought Scott International albums 1840-1940 that's new.

I have been spending many many hours trying to sort through and make sense of my late Father's stamp collection. My latest push is to identify, file, and record a box of stamps that have already been split into groups and placed in standard glassine envelopes. There are so many.

Today, I made some time to order the 2024 yearbook of Spanish stamps, including issues for the Spanish post offices in Andorra and blocks of permanent stamps issued earlier this year.
