Finishing up mounting Japan stamps from the 60s in my album. Thinking about an order for 300 Japanese commemoratives as I have a lot of 'room to grow'.

dkabq8 - 5,000 is quite a milestone. How are you going to celebrate?

I bought tremendous collection of old US plate singles Saturday. Many 2 cent offset's too. Now I am doing the fun job of integrating into my albums. Many duplicates - if you are interested, contact me.

@amccleaf1:

Had not given any thought to a celebration. But I suppose that I will treat myself to more stamps.

Where do you get your Japan stamps from. I got a nice batch of Japan kiloware (1990-2013) off of ebay a couple of months ago, but have yet to find a seller for earlier material.

Edited over a hundred ebay stamp listings to eliminate http links and replace them with https. What a pain in the behind.

Oh and read the article in the latest "Chronicle of the US Classic Postal Issues" about the 118 existing safety paper essays of the Pictorial issue - cool stuff. Now if I only had $3500 to spend to buy one of them :)

I am logging/describing my collection (U.S.) and valuing same so that if I should croak tomorrow my heirs will have an understanding as to the approximate values. They're non-collectors, but fairly intelligent. Also am curious to know approx. value myself as I'm not sure whether or not I have too much, or not enough insurance on it. So far I'm through Scott 264. Still a ways to go.

Renden - Wow - that was totally unexpected - you're the most generous around - thanks x 1000
So - barbu better get used to the concept of using Unitrade rather than Scott from now on then

Just received my first Scott WW catalog set (2016). I had just checked the tracking number saying it was out for delivery this morning, and no sooner had I done this than my door bell rang and the box was sitting there with no post man in sight.

Catalogs are in great shape. My day is made.

dkabq8, treating yourself for your accomplishment with more stamps sounds like a great idea!

My three typical sources for Japanese and other WW stamps are: 1) major and minor shows within reasonable driving distance (these are my favorite, and I am still going through stuff from the last two), 2) ads in Linn's Stamp News (these ads are available online even if you don't have a subscription), and 3) listings from dealers at http://hipstamp.com. For this last, I search for material I am interested in, then find a dealer within those listings with a reasonable shipping charge (usually $1 or so for the whole order), then I buy a lot from that dealer. Many have older material. This allows me to really examine the scans of the stamps so I can avoid any that are duplicative, unattractive or damaged.

Good luck!

Studying the transfers of the 1 BOLIVAR value of the Venezuela's Second ESCUELAS Series. The only information that I've found is dated 1924 and is far from complete or accurate. There are three transfers that are very very difficult to tell apart. Finding a easy way to describe those differences is even more difficult :P
