Here's a dramatic re-creation of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire that I just added to my collection. Dramatic in more than one sense: note the curtains!

No disasters to share of late, until this one showed up today. This was the Sainte Anne de Beaupré Basilica just north of Quebec City.

I was disappointed to find that the topic for the 1906 San Francisco earthquake had been locked: https://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...PIC_ID=33058
So, I guess I will be posting my next batch here. I picked up quite a few recently and will scan them as I have time. Here is the first.

More cards from the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. You can see a city map marking out the burned area here: https://nwcartographic.com/products...=40292723728

Last two. These color cards were, I think, included as inserts in the New York paper the Sunday American & Journal. The shelter card is the only quake depiction I know of where someone appears to be smiling. Pretty resilient, given the circumstances.

More 1906 earthquake damage, The Gualala bridge, built in1892, was tore lose from the Sonoma County side of the Gualala River. It took several months to repair the anchorage and replace the southern end of the bridge. It was used for another 13 years, until replaced in 1919. The very similar looking new bridge was in use until the 1960's.

A couple of images from Dec 7, 1941, I have more, but you get the point.
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Wow, those Pearl Harbor cards are impressive and sobering. I have some French war damage cards from WWI, but they are not action shots.

Took me a a while to get back to this topic, but here are a couple of WWI war damage postcards from the French town of Saint Quentin. I have others -- this might be an interesting topic by itself, although it would probably be more appropriate on the worldwide forum.

I was curious to know what Saint-Quentin looked like today. Thanks to the magic of Google Street View, here is the scene on the last card about a century later. You can see some of the same buildings in the distance.

Has it really been over a year since we've seen a new disaster? Yes, it has! But I was lucky enough to pick up this card showing the 1904 town hall fire in Stamford, CT.

Anyone else have a nice tornado or flood they'd like to share?

It took me a minute to figure out the caption of this clearly doctored photo of the Lassen eruption in 1915. But you'll see the left-facing profile if you look for it. This volcanic eruption didn't get a lot of attention at the time, since it was in a remote area of northern California. But the remnants of it can be seen if you visit Lassen Volcanic Nat. Park.
