Interesting to muse,
the imperfections of stamp design and production, teases the interest.

Postmark.
Curious Chelsea Queb. JOX 1NO ?
I assume a zipcode. Could not find that code on wiki.

If it is a postcode, how long has Canada used them on cancellers ?
Thank you.

J0X 1N0 is a Canadian postal code in use since 1971 and takes the form ANA NAN where A=alphabetic character and N=a number. See Scott 815 & 816 from 1979 for a pair of Canadian stamps to raise awareness and promote the use of postal codes.

Lots more info on the web about the Canadian postal code.

Hope that clarifies things.

Peter

Thank you Peter,
I'll chase that up.
I was aware of the Canadian Postcodes, but I had not recalled seeing on a machine canceller or handstruck before.

Postmarks aren't my speciality, I'm afraid.
Though I would think that the postal code would have been included in them early on since the post office was quite keen on getting the codes used.
Please post any information you find on that.
