Barbu.
With respect, your scanned images are not sufficient to identify correctly.
Students should always try and post scans of the best qualilty possible for identification.

I liken it to a jeweller, try and get a diamond ring appraised from 3 feet away.

I can assist with India to some degree, we also have an Indian specialist Tony Mac,
who may be the most experienced here, esp in the "uglies"

Try and rescan your India example, say around 250-300 dpi, and re post.
I'll do my best, we should be able to identify it.

From the blurry image, looks like "All India Series" Bombay Madras Circle.
I am having trouble seeing the Capital between 5 parallel Bars.

Guess:

M= Madras (M-6)

Here you go, something to get your teeth into........

Rod222,
Your info and Mr Singh was exactly what I was hoping for, very much appreciated! Thanks! Do not mind about the scan I posted, that was purely an example I found on ebay for the type of cancellation. I was not aware about this system of post districts/circles. Next step now will be to try get info or a link to a index of which towns the different numbers represents in each circle.

I am a little surprised to see members show appreciation for postmarks.

Well, maybe we should turn it the other way around? How come not more good folks out there have discovered the delightful paradise of postmarks - yet..

By the way - Thanks for the good news regarding the German postmarks! I have a big box of early Reich bundles (++) I am certainly looking forward to, and I understand there is lots of expertise in this forum if I get lost on the way.
Merry Xmas

If you are successful, please post. An index I do not have, or not come across before.

Apologies Barbu..missed your post.

Takoradi (Sekundi-Takoradi) wiki
During World War II, RAF Takoradi was an important staging point for British aircraft destined for Egypt. Spitfire fighter planes were shipped in crates from England to Takoradi where they were assembled then flown via Nigeria and Sudan to the war in Libya. 26 Squadron SAAF was also based in Takoradi during World War II flying anti-submarine and convoy protection patrols over the Atlantic.

I don't know this first hand since I did not start collecting stamps until 1969, but I remember hearing a group of colletors discussing Ghana at a bourse. Apparently, once Ghana gained independence in 1957 it's stamps were all the rage among young collectors, and by proxy their parents. "Everyone collected Ghana."

It must not have lasted all that long- Ghana seemed an afterthought in the early 1970s. Does anyone else remember a time when Ghana was a "hot" country?

Never to my knowledge.
Souvenir sheets can suggest prices $16 etc
but given I use 25% of Scott = $4

From he 1990's there are a plethora of issues,
I probably shall not be going there.
