It is interesting in that the 2nd period first issues of Lithuania are almost as crude as the 1st period.

Which makes for interesting observations.
I like that.
The country and its people were on a new journey,
organising its first stamp emission for some time must have been full
of chicanes and organisation.
I bet there are some stories behind those.

Now that they are organised, their stamps are top shelf quality in my opinion.

I just snapped up a bargain lot of your early stamps Brian,
look forward to their arrival in say 4 weeks.

Mentioned in Scott 2009
Not afforded a catalogue Number

Sc#582 1997 50ct National Tapestry inscribed "1998"

I understand it was printed 22nd January 1988 (Unconfirmed)

Steiner has a space for it.

Rod, I assume you mean 1998 (like inscribed in the lower left corner of the stamp) instead of 1988.

Nice links, Perf12.

Rod: The second issue of the stamps of the 2nd Lithuanian Republic, was released on December 22nd (curious!)1990. Printed on 16 stamps (4x4) sheets. The stamp on the right has a "tab" with a text in Rusian, English, French and German, that says "First stamps of the Reestablished Republic of Lithuania".

Beautiful stamps - and inspiring work Rod, thanks for sharing!

Brian - thanks for sharing those Kaunas issues said to be geunine - I've bookmarked for later reference.

I'm working on Lithuania myself right now - first establishing a full stamp inventory database according to Michel. Mind you, I have hardly any stamps to register in that database tough....So my new set-up on the Varios will start off very sparsely populated
The positive thing is that there are plenty of empty slots waiting to be filled

Rod - that is a most generous gesture
I truly had nothing like that on my mind in my reply yesterday - however I will absolutely be thrilled to have your duplicates Rod. Much appreciated, Rod!
