ebay knows what they are doing, they didn't get to be a $22 billion company by chance. Our hobby, with it's small transactions, is not consistent with ebay's business model. Who would invest millions and millions of dollars into building a global online auction site to support a lot of transactions less than $10-$15? Who would invest large amounts of money into staffing people to mediating problematic small transactions? Which type of item would a online transaction company rather support; products like a book, DVD, or some other items which is basically the same no matter who you buy it from or an item where condition is key and where a large amount of additional knowledge is needed to properly buy and sell?

The issue here is not that ebay is badly managed or has clueless policies, the issue is that they are heading in a direction that is not well suited for our hobby and the type of online business we want to do.

ebay wants to be Amazon 2.0 and the stamp community is increasing not fitting into that model like others have posted previously. It's a shame since it started as venue for collectors of anything. A site like Delcampe and the others might be a more suitable future for online philatelic transactions.

As for the Top Rated Seller thingy? Why chase that dragon. They've increased the requirements and lowered the benefits. Waste 'o time.

You have to upload 95% tracking for ebay now or you loose your top rated status and reduced 10% discount. It used to be 20% discount for top rated sellers not anymore. Has anyone tried an instagram store? I am seeing a lot of stamp collectors on instagram.
