Postage stamps as a vehicle for Tourism ?
What makes you put a question mark at the end of that sentence?
Most countries - in Europe at least - issue a lot of stamps showing popular sights.
I am working on a Spanish set from the 1960s and 1970s showing 'paisajes y monumentos' (landscapes and landmarks) and', often, is referred to as 'turismo.'
Channel Islands also issued tourist stamps that they did not even bother to cover up.
PostNL issued a whole series 'Mooi Nederland' miniature sheets showing sites. In 2014, it issued a card with five '1 International' stamps depicting typical Dutch symbols. When I go to the PostNL counter at my local supermarket to buy stamps for international letters, I still get these stamps.
