I would like a U.S. Scott C3a, but in the world of actual possibility a U.S. Scott 313.

Lourenco Marques #27. When I get that, I'll have a complete collection of all 176 major varieties of the country. |

Steve ---Hope you find it on ebay ,ran into a similar problem with Cape Juby ,sometimes the only way to find a stamp like that is to buy the complete set at auction prices . |

There are thousands of stamps that I have blank spaces for in my Internationals that never show up in cheap lots or smaller country collections .These are not the better stamps of a set or high price stamps they are just never floating around . The only place to get them is in those $300.00 to $1,000 stamp auction lots ,drives you crazy because you end up buying a lot of duplicates just to get them . |

Since right now my concentration is completing my US definitive, I have 4 that I really need and a few more that are probably out of reach (at least currently)....so, here's my short list: Scott #5, #389, #594 and #596. My BOB wish list consists of 1879 dollar-value PR special printings. Finally, J-8 and J-11 will complete my Postage Dues. |

FYI - I was informed that Seigel is the last auction house still selling 476A. Many philatelists doubt it's true existence, attributing the 2 panes of 100 "apparent" unwatermarked singles to "ghost watermarks". This would make an interesting topic? |

Reedededge, other auction houses besides Siegel also sell the 476A. Because of their rarity they don't appear in auctions as often as most other stamps of that period but the major auction houses sell them, the PF expertizes them, and the Scott catalog lists them. I doubt if those facts change in the future without more solid evidence being discovered that definitively proves that they could not exist. |
