They're something like $1 to $1.50 each. The cancel is from the philatelic window ("stamp market") and was used beyond this date, most probably, like other fancy philatelic window cancels.

These probably commemorated the opening of the philatelic window. I just found one cover exactly the same that sold last month on ebay for 17c.

You can get those one, more beautiful for less than 1$ on ebay
Look carefully it's not a US stamp . This Canadian cover is a fdc date 1 June same date as the US release their one. So the OP icovers are not even FDC

But do you not like pictorial/fancy cancels like on the first cover? Equally interesting, in my opinion, and it supports thematic collection of stamps. Here is another example:

What happen in Cincinnati October 20th 1976 ??! It's a thematic of what ????

We have a Bicentennial stamps, Cincinnati was not founded in 1776, the first habitants establish in 1788 and the city was named in 1790, I don't think Franklin ever been there. We have a view of a riverboat in front of the Carew Tower and the Fountain square ( not even on water side ) was renovated in 1971 … in founded in 1871…. So the October 20th fit nowhere., where is the thematic ?????

As was stated above, it very probably commemorated the opening of the philatelic window, which used this cancel. It was the way most of the philatelic window cancels are found and explains the cachet.

If you look again quite carefully, the object shown in the cancel is a riverboat. It is an idealized picture; perhaps you would prefer a realistic picture of one. Also, Cincinnati is on the Ohio River and did indeed have riverboat service. So, ships, rivers, Ohio: all are subjects covered in this cancel.

Further, if someone collects very modern US postal history, a philatelic window cancel would actually be of interest. The windows were short-lived, set up even as a separate room sometimes, dedicated to only selling stamps. Very convenient if you just wanted to buy stamps for actual use, too. They did very good business for a time and were even used as a convenient supplier by local stamp dealers.

Actually, no. But it is an interesting coincidence. This is the philatelic window cancel from Philadelphia. I would prefer an EKU which I do have in the collection. Even better would be a provable postally used cover.

This cover is very attractive, but can be considered too much of a fabrication made for collectors. That's not only because of the overfranking, but that the post office is closed. Now there was some event that day where one could get the cancel on a handback basis for sure. Like for people with their $2 bills. Even if there was a mailbox at the event, no mail from it was moving that day. Misuse of cancel.

Come to think of it, there is also a problem with your US/Canada FDC. Do you know what that is?

That's with 3 bids, if you noticed. Were you an underbidder there, perhaps?

Stuff happens. Everyone gets a bargain sometime, every seller has a loser sometime.

Back to the original posters question. Even though they are from 1976 they aren't actually tied to the bicentennial. These can usually be found for under $2.
