Have you checked the perfs (especially the top ones)? Does it have gum? Can we see a scan of the back?

What did you buy it as & how was it described? Looks like either an altered proof or a reperforated Scott 102 to me. |

I suspect if you send it off to PSE or PF, it will come back reperforated (possibly on multiple sides). Just IMO. |

This stamp is under discussion in the Facebook groups as well... it has been suggested it might be a 63p4 shaved and perforated... |

If Bill certified it as 102, you can be 99.99% sure it's a genuine Scott 102. That issue has a very characteristic shade & paper, and IMO there's a near-zero chance Bill would have gotten that wrong. I still believe the stamp is reperforated though (IMO, probably on multiple sides), and submission to a different agency could quickly confirm/refute that. |

BTW, is that a scan or a photograph of the stamp? If it's a scan, I'll note that it fails the "Srail test"... |

It's a photograph taken under fairly bright light(it was dark outside when I took the picture). The big discussion on FB is actually one clown that thinks he's smarter than an expertizer(who I'm sure probably has an example & has probably seen plenty in person). If the stamp is reperf don't matter to me, still looks great in my album(where it will remain for the next 60+ years)! |

My only comment here is this stamp is centered way better than fine-VF as advertised in ebay listing. |

Beautiful stamp, jmt406! This is one of the most elegant stamp designs, in my opinion, with delicate curved lines somehow forming a rectangle. It has been a favorite of mine since I bought my first #63 in 1981, a stamp I still own. |

Since it has come up a couple times in this thread could someone please explain reasons for a reperf? Would it not make the overall size of the stamp smaller and therefore be an obvious alteration? That is an absolutely beautiful stamp regardless of extenuating circumstances. |
