That looks like fully salvageable text if you can edit the German text. Yandex is thrown off at the end of the line. It doesn't understand that the sentence continues next line. At the end of each line it has "pressed enter" which you need to remove.

Do you understand any German?

No German at all, apart from perhaps "Hallo"

Win10 is dumbed down, cannot get anything to work
"find and replace " did not have the "enter" icon
and "prnt screen" just disappears.

I would do it manually. Go to beginning of 2nd line and remove the previous character. Add space if needed to separate words. Remove any hyphen at the end of the line and merge the words on both sides of it. Repeat with remaining lines.

As my wife is Taiwanese I have done this same process with many documents in Finnish. Works usually fairly well, but takes time for longer documents.

Regarding German, the words in German can be very long (just like in Finnish). For that reason it is common (unlike in English) to split them at the end of the line to two lines using hyphen. If you try to translate only half word, you get mess out of it.

As, following the increase in postal fees, the use of 2 and 5 Filler values as postage-due label increased strongly, it was decreed by Ministerial waiver, that for collection of an added fee (not the penalty fee) from 15 until 30 June normal postage stamps of the 'mower' design of 2 and 5 Filler were allowed to be used as postage-due label. De decree also stipulates that these auxiliary stamps must be affixed to the letter (sending) and thereon be cancelled. As nothing further was determined as to the manner of defacing, it happened according to the preference of the local postmasters but degenerated because of shady profiteering business into machinations. Most of the stamps that entered the trade with different handstamps (towards 200!) that partly were prepared before, partly after affixing, are, after definitive determination, to be considered as machinations.

Note: Machenschaft is both 'shady' business and, literally, machinations.
Unfug, literally, means damaging business and, by extension, machinations.

The Yandex translation of 'machinations into mischief' is closer to the letter than mine.

The translator is sitting on my couch, typing this.

Yandex is Russian, and apparently the best, naturally, for that translation.
It is however, as far as I know, the only translator from an *.jpg image
I have had good results in the past.
But it seems German is not one of them.

PS: I took "Mower" to be "Harvester"

A 'Schnitter' is someone who cuts. The common word in German is a mower (Mäher). There is nothing wrong with harvester. A 'Schnitter,' however, will not pick apples. A harvester can.
The trouble with translation is that you, easily, can translate words. Yet, language is more difficult to translate.

I once had a Columbian girlfriend. She, sometimes, did not understand me as some words had quite a different meaning in Spain and South America.
