I guess when I began to feel someone else was collecting, I needed a blank album, quad ruled, bordered, preprinted pages worked..then. This was late 80's, pre desk top printing.
Inspired by a test of Elliot Perry's in Pat Paragraph wherein Mr. Perry had combined different design elements of the Official Stamps into stamps and asked us to identify them, I designed a similar front and back of the two post album I made.
I had copies made of the 1870 series banknote stamps, enlarged those and traced the element I wanted into a pattern, drew in the rest and photo-carved it into 6 oz premium tooling leather. Both front and back are the same color.

Defiantly has been reperfed, and picked up a few marks.

Now I had room for fancy cancels. But I soon fell into the habit of filling a page the same way, 20 large bank notes per page, 25 small bank notes per page, both 5 rows.
The green number is the Scott catalogue number
The hand printed text on the Target page says;
Shown on this page are: 5 colors of 20 different targets on 3 Nationals 9 Continentals and 8 Americans, on 3 different papers.

Changed my focus to Official Stamps around this time. Began collecting covers then also.
So, a look at something different.
