Postmaster:
It's time for a new review!! The 4th edition of the Michel Zeppelin catalog was unveiled yesterday at the stamp show in Ulm. Germany.
The most recent Felzmann auction catalog had an advertisement for the new version. It stated (translated by Google Translate):
The Zeppelin and Airmail Special is divided into three volumes for the first time in this 4th edition. This is due to a comprehensive revision and expansion of the work to cover all German airmail up to 1945. This Volume 1 contains a new edition of German Zeppelin mail, while subsequent volumes will focus on airmail and catapult mail.
In addition to the previous edition of the Zeppelin Pioneers, LZ 126, 127, 129, and 130, the airship types Dr. Wölfert, Parseval, Gross-Basenach, Siemens-Schuckert, and Schütte-Lanz have been systematically edited and cataloged for the first time. A new flight directory has been compiled for each civilian airship. The evaluations have also been adjusted where necessary.
Many new discoveries are cataloged for the first time in this edition. Only what was actually available to the editors has been included in the catalog. This made it possible to catalog some new discoveries among the Pioneers. A large number of new drops from army and naval airships were cataloged, including those from airships for which no drops had previously been recorded.
The following revisions are also worth highlighting: The drops from LZ 126 and LZ 127 have been specified, where they were previously treated in a general manner. The same applies to their evaluations. For LZ 127, numerous new drops were cataloged for the first time, especially during the later years of operation from 1934 to 1937.
We hope that this significantly expanded and more comprehensive reference work on Zeppelin mail will further develop this popular part of airmail. A comprehensive study such as this can only be undertaken with the assistance of numerous experts. The publisher would like to take this opportunity to thank all the experts who contributed to the previous editions, which form the basis for this work. Special thanks also go to the authors of this edition: Matthias Dalbeck, Eckhard Förster, and Karl Hofmeister.
I look forward to receiving my copy. |
