The biggest problem with mystic pages is how they handle se-tenants. They'll frequently be strips instead of blocks. or even individual stamps. The pages just may not fit the way you collect. |

Thanks, I've used their Heirloom album as my US stamp home the past several years. I am trying to upgrade to better quality paper so I do not feel the need to put the sheets in protectors and thus save some shelf space. I'm aware of the problems you refer to and have in fact downloaded some of the replacement pages that are offered on here (I think by you). |

If you have a good scanner you can just copy them front / back on better paper. You will find them darker than the printed versions since the printed text is not that black. |

I think producing s hingeless album is still a work in progress for Mystic. I've pretty much isolated the problem- all the problem mounts are in spaces for 22 x 25 mm regular stamps. Whoever installed these mounts didn't allow enough vertical space for the stamp to fit without protruding.
The section of this album I have is part one, and holds some of my more valuable stamps. Having a few sheet protectors for those pages might be a good idea, anyway. No reply from Mystic, I think my message created consternation. They may wind up offering a replacement set, not asking for one. Think I will just phone them today and ask for pricing on the plain ages to complete the set. Hey, installing my own mounts will keep me busy this winter. |

I would not give up on Mystic. If they see it as an issue, they could be investigating more and possible having some options other than a refund. |

The standard pages will have the same size stamp boxes as the hingeless ones.
Only advantage is you could use black mounts to hide the box for the stamp so size would not be a major issue.
From personal experience many album manufacturers have the incorrect size boxes for some stamps, no matter who makes them |

dutchman, I know they will. If I use clear mounts I can get away with a slight amount of mount showing, probably below the bottom of the frame. The stamp should still be centered in the frame, at least enough to look better than they do on these pages.

The stamp boxes on the standard album and the hingeless appear to be different in this screen grab. On the hingeless, all text is below the box. |

Mystic handles the pages differently on the hingeless as opposed to their standard. On the latter, they allow a wide margin around the stamp, seems as if they had using black mounts in mind, the mount is framed nicely.
One possibility is that I could do as I have done on a few other collections; use clear splitback mounts but using one size larger for each stamp- use a 27 instead of a 25 for regulars, etc. Since the mount is clear there is a transparent tab extending over the top frame line. Looks better than it sounds. I started trying that to avoid some of the issues I was having with the split backs not flattening out on the page. It totally worked, makes it easier to remove a stamp and put it back. |

Quick comment. I just finished remounting my US up to 1934 in the hinngeless album. Most standard sized regular stamps (22 x 25) have shorter mounts than needed. The mount and space for C11 was sized incorrectly. The stamp sticks out over the frame line.
I just don't know what to say. After all the time this has been out there you'd think Mystic would have the kinks ironed out. They apparently still don't. If I didn't really like everything else about these albums I would be going elsewhere by now. |
