I Bought A Million US Postage Stamps - Literally ... Is There A Market For Bulk Stamps.

Don, I was feeling vertigo until I got to the last picture Those stamps are perfect for craft projects.

They must have been accumulated by someone working in the mail room of a large company. Looks to be all definitives.

AR8Jason, you indeed have a very large amount of stamps. To answer your original question, you will have a very hard time selling these ultra common definitive.

As Jenny mentioned they make great art projects. You might want to consider donating them to the Foxboro Holocaust Stamp Project, "One Postage Stamp – For Each Victim of the Holocaust" is helping the kids understand history.

Wild story & very cool pictures! Hate to say it, but given that the holocaust project is completed, my only remaining question is: Do you have a fireplace??

Give'em away to kids in packs of a handful or two...schools/churches/community centers etc...

These are only part of the stamps. I have the 50s - 70s commemorative separated as well but not in this box. I was just showing the one box. I have the commemoratives in larger tubs and boxes. The small definitives fit two rows to a snack bag and make a nice "brick." The larger Christmas ones take one row to the bag or 1500 stamps. The commemoratives are odd sizes and don't make good "bricks" and as there are not as many of each of them, they don't always fill out the bag. I of course have not been through them all, only about half.
The previous owner went to an estate sale on a farm. On one wall of the barn were large gunny sacks and he asked what was in them. They told him they were stamps. He asked how much and was given a price per bag. His car would not hold them all so he called his son a school teacher to come get him when he got off work in his large custom van. Between the car and the van they were able to load them all. When they got to the two last bags, they could not pick up the bags. They opened them and found out instead they held coins. They asked for help loading and the seller went back on the sale saying they couldn't have those bags, even though he had paid for them. ... They left without them.
As to where these were collected. Some have information that they were saved by Catholic charities, others by insurance companies, and yet others are from government agencies. Some were cut out by "pinking sheers." They must have been cut out by ladies paid by the pound or something.
There are some that bear stamp hinges and a few foreign stamps, dating into the 1800s are mixed in as well. When I find out how to up load pictures, and find the picture of it, I will post a invisible perf 1932 Washington 3 cent pair I found.

Wish you the best in sorting out all of these US stamps and I agree with pevious posts. I do not think you hit the jackpot but let us see your earlier stamps.....like more than 100 years ago !!

Someone needs to work on the post tutorial. No where does it mention that it converts the file back to your computer and then you have to load the converted file from there.

The idea of selling in bulk on the "crafting" area of ebay might just work
