Quick Question For Someone Familiar With Siegel Auctions

I'm getting to know the Siegel website, I've established a sign on, and started doing some searches on future auctions. As I identify a stamp I like, is there a way to save that listing into some sort of watch list, where I can put all of the individual items that interest me? I seem to be able to save searches, but a search (I was looking at their C14 listings, for example) might include a dozen different lots, most of which I don't need to save. I guess I'm looking for a Watch button (like ebay, I suppose) in each listing box, but I don't see anything like that. Help?

That specific function is not available. I use SAN because I can check the Watch box on any lot in a Siegel auction and it is saved in My Bids.

I also use Stamp Auction Network for the "watch" function. I prefer to bid live (online) when possible but the watch feature helps me get organized and I can always bid on the book or have a list ready for an agent if I can't bid live.

Siegel is, incidentally, my auction house of first choice, along with Rumsey.

I agree with above posts... you will love SAN!

Make sure you mention that SAN was hacked and a lot of people's personal information including credit cards was compromised.

P.S. Who hasn't been hacked. Between Home Depot, Lowe's and Equifax, I now have credit card monitoring protection service for life!

SAN is a great site and you can watch the items you are interested in. yes their office was hacked (not the online site) but you don't need to put a credit card into SAN to use it. You pay the actual auction house when you win. All Siegel auctions are available for live bidding on SAN.

I think you need to get your facts straight as the excerpt below is directly from SAN:

Please read this letter in its entirety. On September 28th, we notified you of this data breach. This is the formal advice as directed by our insurance company.

What happened? What information was involved?
We recently became aware that our StampAuctionNetwork (SAN) server was hacked on September 26, 2017. The attack did not target StampAuctionNetwork directly, we have SSL security there which protects from external attacks. The breach was made through our main offices and they were able access SAN from there. We took immediate steps to stop the access and respond to the situation. Based on our review of the systems, we have discovered that some of your personal data may have been compromised. This data includes your name and payment card information.

I have been using SAN since the beginning and love it.

dutchman, yes that is consistent with what I said. They got into the system by access through their office. Not an online hack, but a hack that resulted from someone getting access to their office computers.

OK, so I've registered in SAN. Looks good. Any favorites to recommend among the auction houses? Seemingly, you want a balance among quality of material, reliability/integrity, and frequency of auctions? Thanks.

Kelleher, Cherrystone, and Schuyler-Rumsey all have yielded good results for me in the past.

I buy most of my material from Kelliher but Dutch Country and Rasdale are good for bulk items, I also like Harmer Schau for an occasional collection purchase.

Anyone have experience with HipStamp? Seems a little easier, as it has the watch list feature, and doesn't require the financial references or upfront cash deposits required from the auction houses on SAN.....

I have never heard of nor been required to provide a cash deposit. References are for the most part from other auction houses, not financial institutions.
