Status International Shipping Beware

After waiting five weeks for my auction purchases from Status International to arrive I inquired as to whether or not there was tracking information available. I was told that Status sent my lots via Economy Seapost and that it could take up to FOURTEEN WEEKS to arrive in the USA. What! I have lived and worked all over the World from the Middle East to SW and SE Asia and sent and recieved and sent mail and packages and never ever heard of such a thing. Why in Gods name would anyone send an envelope by ship in the year 2017? There, I feel better now. Never again.

98 days seems excessive, indeed.
I just bought 7 Kg of stamp mounts, from Canada.
Marked "International Air / Surface"
From memory it took around 65 days to reach destination in Australia. (Within the time frame I expected)

I purchased from Status once. After all the fees,postage, handling insurance, etc. never again. The stamp and service was fine but I could not justify the cost. This was before the slow boat though the stamp was China.

Fourteen weeks? Is this some huge and heavy box lot that weighs a ton where airmail would cost a fortune?

Otherwise that is insane, and surface mail between the US and Australia didn't take 14 weeks 150 years ago, and I have the covers to prove it! So much for progress....

Bill - The package weighs 1 kilo. I ripped them a new one for sending it via Sea Mail. The HMS Status has sprung a leak and is foundering off of the coast of Somalia as I write this. Seriously though, I used to get mail in Afghanistan and Iraq (boxes) in 2 weeks. I thought what you said about going backwards since mail would travel by sailing ship in less time.

These days, they probably hold a package until they can fill an entire shipping container. There was no containerized shipping 150 years ago.

Will be interesting to see what they charged you for shipping. I'm betting a huge mismatch between what you paid and how it was shipped

The only time I bought from an Auction house in Australia it was from
Phoenix Auctions and they were fast in delivery.

Sadly all this info on mailing would of been on your status invoice.

Check it as you might of paid for better mailing service.

Mailing like all your other auction costs had to be paid by you before the mailed item would be sent to you.

On a 6kg parcel US mailing only.

Standard mailing = $100 delivery 5 days

Too heavy for economy. Cuts out at 2kgs

Economy Sea = $66.83 delivery 2 to 3 months

Netherland is about another 50% for mailing only cost.

Status sent me a copy of the Aus Post Bill of Lading. They sent it with $20 in insurance coverage as media mail!

What does that mean exactly ?

Auspost has no insurance.

For your 1kg item how much were charged for mailing on your invoice from status?

With extra cover you have a tracking number.

To many things about all this situation do not add up at all.

Status sent my lot as media mail valued at $20. Given that the lot is valued at many many many multiples of that and is now on a ship somewhere I am livid. Never ever ever ever again. Period.

Do not have an issue about someone not liking an auction house that is their choice.

When I do a search on media mail auspost all I get is USA post mailing options not Australian.

So after 2 threads it comes down to all of this.

You paid for the service you got as it is on your invoice from status. Is it not?

I cannot even get an invoice out of Status. Sabine sent me an email weeks ago telling me that my card had been charged. Ask for an invoice = nothing. Login to Status = no information. They send a valuable package containing stamps via Seapost with a claimed value of $20/worth of media mail. Great! Would you be satisfied? Absolutely not.
