I do not consider myself a custodian. I love the history and even spend some time doing more in depth research on some stamps. I may offer advice but in the end I don't own their property and I respect their right to collect how they want too. It's that simple and if I feel strong enough I will buy it. I guess that is why I am in the mess I have now. My friend could not find a buyer for his father's plate block collection. He was just going to split them up and use them for postage. So I bought them at face value 1938 through 1991. His thinking was he would rather use them for postage than get 50 cents on the dollar. I thought this was wrong so I bought them. Now and only now do I have a say in the future of these stamps. The only problem is that he had doubles and triples.

This reminds me of a collection of a couple hundred Scott #11's 3c 1851 issue stamps on cut-squares that I bought in the 1980s from a dealer.

Someone had cut out the stamp and postmark from several hundred 3c stamps on cover and put them in an album. They were kind of cool to look at in the album, but I always disliked the fact that so many covers had been desecrated in order to make that.

Collector: You're in it to enjoy your hobby.
Businessperson: You're in it to build financial value.
Both of those have the right to deal with their acquisitions however they choose without the others condemning them for it.
Period.

To each his own, but one's own should not be forced on others.

If interested, I can mail you about 20 from the 90's from all over the US. Email me your address if you would like me to mail them to you because they have no use sitting in my closet (they came in a lot of stamps at a show that I bought one time).
