New To Stamp Collecting, Inherited A Good Size Collection And Need Help

Sigh this sounds like it will take me years to try to even sort them out I'm ADHD and organizing always been hard to do for me. Yes I will take photos of the album's of early us when I get home.

The coins look like they would be a TON of fun to study and sort. Never met a Morgan, Indian-head, or Buffalo I didn't like.

If there's one thing above all others that stamp collecting has taught me it's patience.

Thank you guys I'm glad I joined this forum cause you all seem very knowledgeable and appreciate all the help I can get. The coin collection has been very fun to learn as I been learning and selling coins for almost 6 months and learned so much from going through them. The guy who collected them must of been at it for awhile cause I have binders full of rare and very old coins and it's always a treasure hunt every time I look through them as there is so much that's unsearched by me and I always find a really good and high value coin even found about 7 gold coins so far and so much silver it's crazy the oldest coin I found so far is a 80AD Roman COIN of Titus that I'm still studying but so far it doesn't show any signs of it being a fake either and it's just crazy how much there is and the value I been figuring out is up there and now it's time for me to start the stamps and can't imagine how much value is there but it seems like it will take me years to sort it all and everything and being ADHD that will be very hard for me but I'm excited to start though after learning so much on coins I can't imagine what is in store for me with the stamps I know it will be alot more to it but should be fun just like the coins that I'm still going through and just dont seen to end.

I'll post some more pictures of my stamp collection here soon when I'm at home cause there's so much already done that the collector started putting to get such as full sets and albums etc. Just sucks I have no clue what to look for but been tryinf to figure that out though and hopefully I can get some help here from you awesome people here at stampcommunity.org #9786;

To get yourself started, and not get overwhelmed by all those stamps, a couple of suggestions. get yourself a package of empty stock pages and start sorting out your loose stamps. Don't pull stamps out of your albums --just leave them intact for the time being. You could work at sorting stamps into separate piles for each country. Concentrate on the U.S. stamps by sorting each variety into the stock pages. The challenge will be to geT EACH VARIETY together in a stock book. The photos of the several pages when you started this thread shows a random placement of stamps. So, you should leave lots of spaces-- maybe just one type or variety to a line if you have lots of duplicates.

Look at the early postage due stamps in the stock page you pictured. You will notice the bottom corner perforation is bent over. That was done by rough handling and it ruins the value of that stamp. When you put the stamps into the guides use care to protect the perforations! In fact, you really should use tweezers topic up the stamps and place them into the stock books. It takes about five minutes to get used to doing that, but it is actually easirt and faster once you get used to it.

These are just suggestions .. I don't know how much experience you have! Hope this helps!

Just from what has been shown/said, looks like the coins have more value than the stamps, but as you saidm you only showed a little and you might have randomly picked the least interesting stamps to show.

Show some of the early (first) pages of the US albums. General rule with MANY exceptions is older tends to be worth more, unused tends to be worth more than used, and if you see a bunch of the same stamp, it is unlikely to have much value (you just don't get that lucky, you would have to spend real money to have multiples of the same valuable stamp). Just be aware that there are many VERY similar looking stamps that are not the same thing and tiny differences can make a big difference and as a newby you will have trouble telling the differences.
