Interesting, extraordinary to see Adansonia gregorii tree, so close to sea water?
In Australia, we see them in the deserts. We refer to them as "Boab" unlike the other term "Boabab"

If you travel the Great Kiwi Road, you are more than likely to get rainy weather on the western side of South Island where the winds come right off the ocean. Sometimes the road is so narrow, that it is one-way. Pane of sights along the trip, 2017.

Hi Rod, Have you ever been over there? K.

Indeed I have Kris,
first visit was on a Daring Class destroyer, HMAS Vampire.

Lovely people, absolute fabulous scenery.
The bane of Australia rugby teams.

A pretty sketch of tourist attractions in the Dominican Republic: a carriage ride or relaxing under the umbrella on your hotel terrace or going fishing. Tourist stamp of 1976.

It's just a pretty picture, but the large wave at the beach and the sun that looks VERY hot on this tourism stamp from the Dominican Republic might also be interpreted as potentially threatening the island. It certainly is not safe from hurricanes. (Odd detail: the umbrellas do not cast any shadow.)

A pleasant family afternoon tea on the island of Sark, Guernsey. There are several small but beautiful beaches on the channel islands although most of the coast is quite rocky or at least not sandy. Great islands for hiking. tourist stamp of 2002. By the way, the umbrellas are in the colors of the Guernsey flag.

Another painting by Eugene Boudin (1824-1898), featuring the beach at Deauville before the setting up of those huge umbrellas seen in the earlier posts of Deauville and Trouville. Boudin must have been at many of the merry beach gatherings - he painted them often. stamp part of booklet set of 12 impressionists, 2013

As mentioned, Eugène Boudin, the French painter from the Normandy region, was one of the first to do paintings outside of his studio. (see also page 5) Solomon Islands commemorative sheet, 2013. And a photo of the artist I found on Wiki; 1896.

Another Boudin painting of a gathering on the beach, Solomon Islands 2013. The Solomon Islands issued a large number of stamps of primarily French artists that year, but this scan I found on an agency page, so the stamp might not be one for real use, rather for earning revenue. The painting, however, is for real: Figures on the Beach.

Rain won't stop us from getting out and about - we help each other! A Macedonian stamp, possibly drawn by a youngster, for today, Universal Children's Day; 2003. (The Macedonian colors are red-yellow-red)

Hi Rod, Quite an impressive list - and there are still a few coming, enjoy. K.

Sweet little Hummel figurines were produced for about 70 years by the Goebel porcelain factory near Coburg in Germany. The figurines are known by the name Hummel after the drawings of Franciscan Sister Maria Hummel (1909-1946). Today they are collector's items. 1993. A cute toddler, well equipped for wet weather. And a drawing of Maria's showing that toddlers know how to share an umbrella. (For Universal Children's Day)
