Scott#104 In Good Condition

I share the opinion of the others. It looks like a 65 to me.

I just wonder, why nobody is asking me about the paper?

not asking about the paper because it is clearly not the crisp white paper you'd expect to see on a re-issue. No reason to ask about something you don't have any questions about.

Good luck with the expert committee. You might want to consider joining the RPSL. You get two expert opinions basically for free annually with your membership. If the stamp is a genuine re-issue, the membership will pay for the expertization. If a bog standard 65, at least you'll get something positive for your money.

aug-stamps, I think the first thing you need is a Scott Specialized, it will answer many of your questions, also concerning which colors there are for each Scott number and how you can distinguish for example a reissue from the normal issue.

The cancelation seems to be PT-79 or PT-80 in use starting 1879, based on the thumbnails provided by stampsmart.com:

The dot size and spacing are not even close to PT-79 or PT-80. No match.

The cancellation is not circular like the earlier ones.

I will send it to expertize, anyway.

Forget the colors...the engraving is nowhere near sharp enough to be a 104.

It's a 65...nice copy - well centered - but a 65...

This is not 104

Save your money, and chalk this one up to experience. No amount of wishful thinking will get this expertised by any reliable service as anything but the #65 that it clearly is.
