It's ok for me that Altay isn't really a country. I did realize that, but I collect everything with giraffes, and I like it. Sorry I should have put with that sheet, that it's not a legitimate stamp.
Thanks for letting everyone else know. It wouldn't be fair if any new collectors saw it. Might confuse them.

I couldn't agree more, but until I own the stamps themselves I'm reliant upon, erm, "borrowed" pictures from ebay - once I own the stamps I'll scan them in at much higher resolutions for a much better quality image. If you can recall which picture wasn't working and let me know I'll see if I can fix it.




Only some of them - there are seven giraffe values in that set, but only the three lowest values (the 2.5reis revalued to .25c, the 5r and the 10r) have high catalogue values - the other in the set (bar possibly the 80r, which catalogues at around GBP80) are all relatively reasonable. I don't know if there's a specific reason that the lower values are so much more expensive...other than scarcity, I guess.



Part of the 1924 9-stamp Postages due - not very expensive, and very easy to pick up on ebay or wherever.

I might be able to help provide you with scans on a few of them. I'll let you know after I finish looking through the rest of your site later this month.



On your 1900-1924 page, for example, pics #2,6,7 (counting from the top) don't show. All I get is a generic but pretty "picture not available" thumbnail.

Aah - yes, that's intentional, and means that I haven't got any images (borrowed or otherwise) for that set of stamps.

I thought, when you said that certain images weren't showing, that when you'd clicked on the thumbnail it hadn't taken you to the larger version of the corresponding image. Hopefully the stock "image not available" will be completely replaced in its usage as images become available.

Yes, I have a couple of the stamps you are missing, and might be able to help provide scans for your future listings. However, the stamps I have are often used, and may not be the complete set. If you are still interested, post in this thread again, and I will contact you via your website.

Which are the ones that you actually have, the ones on the white stockpages? I might be able to provide replacement scans (without the overlaying stamps) for those photobucket and black stockpage scans.

Here is the 1/- stamp from Northern Rhodesia. Note the giraffe on the left side.



Lower values from this set have the same design, though the stamps are monochrome.

Yes - that's the 1938 definitives issue. There was an earlier set in 1925 with King George V, exactly the same design, the only difference being the profile facing the other way.

Thanks for reminding me of those US issues, sometimes a few slip the mind, especially when I've been focused on other projects.
