Revenues, Officials, Documentary Stamp Lot For Sale

So im going to give this a go.. is a starting bid required? also an end time?? I will go ahead and post, mods please let me know what I need to add.

Nice stuff, however, to be honest, I don't really know how one goes about selling stamps on this site?

You could try to sell these on ebay as well? Or maybe somewhere like Stamps 2 Go or Hipstamps?

I think you need to clarify quite a few things. Have you looked for the other items for sale, and how those are presented? For example, is this something to bid on, or do you have a set price? How do you want to be paid? If it is a bid item, then you need to set a starting price and a date/time for the end. You need to mention who is paying the shipping costs.

Describing the items a little better, with some scott numbers or condition would also help.

ok another question. is it unacceptable, or just in poor taste, to choose not to sell should the final bid not reach the minimum I would sell for. started low because I hionestly dont know whats reasonable.

Yes, that would be in extremely bad taste. If you put it up for auction you ought to take the bid. You can always set a minimum bid.

Even as low-key as SCF is, I'd say that once you set out an auction and start receiving bids, you pretty much have to sell. If you don't know what a given item or lot "should" sell for, how would you know if it sold for "enough" to make you happy?

In this case, you set the minimum bid at $10. That already protects you from the lot going for 99 cents. You can see from ebay that mixed lots of revenues don't generally go for big money. We have lots of revenue collectors here. If there is something that warrants special attention, you're likely to get bids.

I might have said that a longer auction would get more eyes, but I don't recall anyone doing a one- or two-day auction over a weekend here, and maybe that's a workable model? If people recognize that you're going to be doing short auctions on weekends, maybe they'll draw a following? Can't say, but it can't hurt to try.

ETA: While I was typing and editing, and editing some more, to make sure it was still sounding friendly, revstampman made my point in a few short words.

I think that we have enough online users to that your lot will draw fair market value. But Cjd is right, in the future listing with a one week duration would ensure that it gets plenty of eyes.

In future, I think it wise to crop out the images of items not included,
some people may just miss your advice, and cause a disappointment.

so in 50 minutes I guess this thing ends and so---if I must---to defend my honor I will sell to the high bidder at that time. however, I was really kind of hoping I could in a short time get a rough idea what buyers here are willing to pay for such a lot with no commitment to sell. so if not selling will permanently tarnish my name, then I will sell. for some reason you all seem weirdly trustworthy. but I could use some reassurance in the form of answer to a couple questions first if its ok..

1. what would you be willing to pay for these stamps individually. (of course just getting an idea here roughly I realize collectors have specific items they want and would pay more than someone else, so just some approximation if anything greater than zero.)
2. is there any individual stamp you would pay more than $1 for?
3. Would you buy this lot of 60 stamps for more than $100?

i realize I may annoy some with all the questions, and yes I get if I wanted more for them I should have started the bidding out higher and worked my way down. duly noted.
