"Postal systems exist to deliver mail"

As email replaced mail and commercial services dominate package delivery will the postal system run out of a reason to exist? Almost all mail winds up on a plane these days. Amazon wants to literally "drop ship" via drones soon. The times they are a changing.

Battlestamps - I live in Westchester NY and have the same experience. Rye post office has most, but not all new issues. Clerks blame it on how the Postmaster orders. Harrison post office does much better. So, availability of stamps is likely a function of the postmaster rather than any post office policy. And if Australia isn't willing to actively sell stamps at the counter, their missing a profit opportunity.
