From posters above: "Forget what other collectors are telling you." & "best advice."

OP's original question was: "I was wondering what collectors put in their collections besides commemoratives?"

I don't see anyone telling the OP what to collect or how to collect, so much as just answering the OP's question - What do other people put in their collections besides commemoratives. Am I misreading the OP's question?

It all depends on how specialized you want to go.

If ordinary stamps arent enough, move on to postal history, flaws, postmarks, shades, pre-cancels, perfins etc.

I'm an all-world collector, so I have yet to go specialized in any area. I just havent got the room for it.
