Here is Australia's September 4, 2001 two-stamp set (Sc #s 1998-9) commemorating the 47th Commonwealth Parliamentary Meeting hosted by Brisbane. Stamps were sold as a sheetlet/pane of 10 (5 x 2) with the stamps arranged in checkerboard fashion, so that both horizontally and vertically se-tenant pairs are available. This September 15, 1982 440c stamp (Sc #549) of Guyana is a good example of the many surcharges that appear from that country in the 1982-3 period.

The stamp was first issued in 1971 as a 3c 'Flower' definitive and was surcharged in 1981 as a 60c value in the 'Royal Wedding' set of surcharges before its final revaluing in 1982.

On May 3, 1975 Belgium issued this 4.50 franc stamp (Sc #922) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the liberation of concentration camps. The large white "KG" stands for "Kriegsgefangenen", or prisoners of war. The red triangle was a code patch worn by some prisoners and signified the person was a political prisoner, i.e., one who opposed the far-right Nazi regime in Germany. The black "B' identified the wearer as Belgian.
