Fyi, I have been considering a change in how we list the 1913 issue. Scott's of course identifies 3 main varieties, with WX11 (Type 1, with poinsettias) being the rarest; there appear to be fewer than 100 copies in existence, so most collectors will never own one.

I own one (WX11) which is NOT the reason for my post but does provide me with the reason for the post.. The reason for my post is WHERE I found it to purchase it. One of my stamp clubs get a set of APS Circuit Books for members to review each month during our several meetings. I found my copy there, in a circuit book with others types of the 1913 design just before the pandemic stopped meetings for a while.

And yes, the creator of that circuit book knew about all of the 1913 varieties they included for sale and had each described properly as well as priced reasonably. The only other one I have seen in person was on in a circa 2017 Harmer-Schau Auction as a single lot upon which I was a sad underbidder.

I began chasing the 1913 seals used on cover with parcel post stamps.and expanded to other years as well. Then expanded to the stamps alone, not just on cover. for the period of parcel post stamp use. For what ever reason it attracted me, likely the Santa and his sleigh, I have built up a small collection of the 1913 seals with my most recent acquisition being a full sheet of 100 of the Type II.

Lastly, I wonder if the WX11 list was changed in the Green's Catalog.

That's a great link. I have the 'basic' ones covered but not all of those varieties. Here's one of my pages...

WX11's for sale now:

This is where rodgcam, I found a photo showing what seems to be a sheet of 100 of either WX12 or WX13. Made me wonder if I would even get a chance to own one.

If I collected these that site would put a hurt on my finances. I always thought of Christmas seals as a fun way to collect on the cheap, which of course it can be, but never knew how far you can take it. Looks like a LOT of fun actually. Ho-Ho-Ho

That is one of the joys of Christmas seals ... you can customize your collection to your finances ... from the extremely specialized to a basic one-a-year collection. Don's pages are a perfect example of finding that personal balance.

As a similar example, one can fully enjoy collecting U.S. airmails without ever acquiring the big 3 zeppelins.

I've noticed that the auctions I follow only seem to carry these at Christmas time. Stamps don't have to be seasonal.
