I think you clicked my ebay link. I sell Persia/Iran all the time, I just have to be careful not to ship International. I sell Cuba collections but bundle them as "Caribbean collections". Syria I sell as Syria with no trouble. North Korea is OK just sell as Korea and let the collectors figure it out. I think the note from ebay may mean they're doing away with the Iran category, but that's a guess. |

PayPal will threaten to close your account if you are selling embargoed items.
I sold some Sudan stamps a few years ago and my customer, who is in the UK, sent the payment with a description of Sudan stamps. PayPal investigated and made me sign a consent form indicating that I would not buy or sell any Sudan or other embargoed stamps using their service. They also made me take the Sudan stamp list off of my website. The penalty if I do sell those items will be that they close my account and report me to the Treasury Dept.
The stamps I was selling were all issued before 1970, but they didn't care. So don't mess with them if you want to keep your account. |

I am slightly confused. I keep reading about international posting. I have stamps from all the embargoed countries, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. Can I sell them on ebay UK if I only post to UK. Or are they just banned end of story ?. |

KRelyea: Yep, I think that's what I clicked now too. It was late last night when I looked at it and I was tired. As for Sudan, I don't think they are blocking that anymore as I've been able to list some material from there this year without issue on ebay. |

Quote:Can I sell them on ebay UK if I only post to UK. Or are they just banned end of story ?. Who the heck knows. ebay applies these "rules" capriciously and inconsistently across sellers and countries of origin. One seller might get nailed, but another is free to sell whatever they want. There's little rhyme or reason. |

Battlestamps That's good to know I've been selling Sudan or French Soudan by adding them to another Fr Colony. I'd rather sell them stand alone.

In my opinion, your move was hasty, for several reasons: 1. Were you on an annual subscription with ebay or month-to-month? If the former, you will still owe for the duration of your subscription. I don't see anything like a $120/month subscription rate, so did that figure include all your final value fees? 2. In my experience, having tried Stampwants/Hipstamp several times over the years, the sell-through rate is a tiny fraction of what you get on ebay. Sure, the monthly fees may be 60% lower, but if your sales are 90% lower, it's a net loss. Good luck. |

Good luck with the move, I hope you let us know how it works out for you. A few years ago I experimented with Bidstart and Delcamp. After giving them a try I estimated my sales would decline about 90% as compared to ebay at least until I "paid my dues" and built up some feedbacks and gathered some customers. It was to high a price for me. You also might consider changing your product mix. I used to sell US Postal history but the cost of large postal history lots at auction was making it impossible for me to make $. I changed and now sell WW country collections and do very well. Ken |

Today I saw a strategy for 19th-century postal history from Cuba that I hadn't seen before: "Spanish West Indies." |
