OK, well I stepped in it again! I specifically told myself, I was NOT going to buy any more large collections/accumulations.

The gentleman I bought this batch from, this weekend, had been accumulating for quite a while, but never organized much. He sort of specialized in Germany, so there will be a good amount of that in here. Everything else is just as disorganized as the collection I mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Just started sorting through it yesterday, but what I am noticing is that there is much more to this batch than what he had photographed for the sale, which was mainly the German stuff, and some U.S.
Much of this are pages from dismantled album purchases, where sorted out the German items and piled up the rest. There are also stock books, glassines, envelopes full and loose stamps as well. Also found several old time approval books, with the information and prices written in fountain pen. I'm sure they were the cheap stamps of the day and are still cheap today, but there is much that I do not have.

Unlike the collection at the beginning of this thread, which I had already sorted out by country when I started this, I will be able to post updates form this collection as I sort it out.

Since my scanner is upstairs and my stamp arena is downstairs, I will take impromptu photos, with my phone, of interesting (at least to me) that I find as I do my sorting, and post them here. All comments are welcome on any of them. These may not be expensive items, just things I like.

Here are a few things I found in tonight's sorting session.

So, if you see me mention "Accumulation 2.0", this is the collection I am referring to.

BTW, I am still working on Morocco, as I sort this batch.

That will keep you busy for awhile!

Just catching up with your posts, and greatly enjoying seeing your French Morocco. One of my favourite countries, and probably my strongest individual country collection, after Canada. Only missing 14 stamps for a complete mint collection, although a half dozen of those are beyond my per stamp budget.

gmot - Thank you! I actually have a few more scans of French Morocco to share.

Accumulation 2.0!
Here are a few more items I found while sorting. Comments welcome.

I'm sure this is a cheap U.S. stamp, but I thought it was pretty with the large margins.

Also found what could be a philtelic "tragedy". At first I thought these 2 were on a piece of the original envelope, but then realized there are 2 different cancels and nothing on the paper. Someone "attached" these to a piece of paper with something other than a hinge. Hopefully I won't destroy them trying to soak them off.

Not sure if the information on the tag is accurate, as I haven't looked it up yet, but if it is I can't say that I haven't seen modern-ish German stamps with CV's like that.

Most German stamps from 1945 up to the mid-1950s have pretty high catalog values (comparatively), especially MNH or postally used.

In my opinion there is not enough of the cancel to qualify for the Used catalog price. It's also NH?

Does "used NH" mean CTO?

It just means that the stamp has never been hinged (mounted).

Of course!
But "used never hinged" ? If your stamp is postally used what's the matter if it's hinged or not?

Don't some German collectors like to keep the gum of CTOs intact (not sure whether this is CTO or not)?

Looks like it's been a while since I posted an update. But trust me, I HAVE been busy. My original intention was going to be to sort that large collection while working on Morocco, and showing some of the finds I make in the process.

Well, what it turned out to be was one big ginormous sorting frenzy, and that's about it.

But, I do have the bulk of it sorted out so I can at least find things I may need.

Most everything is now, at least, sorted by country. I had to go out and buy a batch of manilla folders though. In those went all the loose album pages and leaves, stock pages and larger items, like souvenir sheets.

Then, into smaller envelopes went all the loose stamps, of which there was quite a bit. There were also quite a few large glassines with random, loose stamps, that needed sorting out. Along with the loose stamps, I also removed bunches of stamps from alum pages that only had 1 or 2 stamps on them, just to cut down bulk.

There are still these 4 small albums to b gone through, but I think I will wait on them. They are at least contained already and in alphabetical order.

I wound up with a good amount of US (left box) and Belgium (right box), most of it already identified.

Then there is this mass of "stuff" that I am not sure what I am going to do with yet. This is all German material. Everything is in German, so I can't read them, but they have the "feel" of being First Day Cover, Maxi cards, and other souvenir type items. Many look like things that were given away at stamp shows and exhibits, but I am not sure. I'm guessing this stuff is as popular as U.S. FDC's and Gold Replicas. I may pick some things out to keep, who knows.

There were some other things I didn't picture. I nice 3-ring Scott binder with a load of Scott-style stock pages, 2 3-ring binders with stock pages, filled with U.S. (mostly cheap), and a huge U.S. FDC album (yawn).

So, sometime this weekend I will be able to continue with my Morocco project.

Spain,

I also had been telling myself I was going to complete sorting my existing mish mash before buying anything new. So much for that as I've added some collections in albums and more recently purchased a couple lots of mixed packets of stamps. The new lots will arrive Monday.

I look forward to seeing your progress on Morocco.

Dale

I have officially finished with French Morocco, at least for now.

My totals for French Morocco are - 331 mounted stamps
Which brings my worldwide total to - 19,566

My Semi-postal section is rather bare, so no photos. But following are some of the more occupied pages from the rest of the album. Also, no souvenir sheets yet.

SS's are one thing I seem to be short of in most of the countries I've mounted so far. I'm guessing it's because a lot of the material I am getting comes from general WW albums, which doesn't provide spaces for SS's.

In case anyone is interested, I have decided to continue on from French Morocco to post independence Morocco.

On the 11th of this month you showed two GB stamps stuck on paper, I would suggest you either remove a special stmap remover solution. or place them face up on a wad of wet kitchenpaper or similar to let the moisture work from the back just incase the ink is soluble.
