I forgot to mention that "The Postal History of Ceylon" was one of a well reviewed series by Ted Proud, and was published in 2006.

I don't have a copy, and only saw one briefly in the library of a stamp dealer that I visited a couple of years ago.

I believe the best source on this subject is Cancellation On the Postage Stamps of Ceylon by G.F.Oxley

It provides a detailed overview of each numeral and the associated village/town.

Perhaps a copy could be obtained by contacting the Ceylon Study Circle in the UK.

I have one and I can provide any specification information you may need. I also have about a 90% complete Ceylon QV numeral cancel collection on stamps and covers.
