A quick check of filtering appears to indicate that HipStamp is doing a somewhat better job than
ebay. A quick look at US > Revenue > Consular Service > Centering filter on HipStamp displays most stamps as "Not Specified". However, HipStamp can match more stamps than
ebay. Although HipStamp displays corrupted notation like "F/VF" for "Fine to Very Fine", it will match "F-VF", the more accepted abbreviation, if specified by the seller. The term "Fine" on the other hand also matched "Extra Fine" or "Fine to very fine" if not abbreviated. It would serve HipStamp well to stay with generally accepted standards in the stamp marketplace and display "F-VF" for "Fine to very fine" instead of "F/VF". Unlike
ebay, HipStamp has some capability to recognize standard as well as nonstandard abbreviations used by sellers led astray by
ebay.
