No, Spock1k, there are such things as black holes. We are all living proof. Instead of light and gravity, think education and our brain. Knowledge gets sucked into our brain. It must go somewhere, because we still walk around like blooming idiots with little understanding. And yet, we still physically have a brain. I cannot say brains don't exist just because I am an idiot (as my wife often reminds me).

Therefore, black holes do exist. The light is like our education -- where it goes, nobody knows.

p.s. I grew up on that old ship with captain kirk and all the big lighted switches and a monitor that looks more today like an audio amp at full blast, yesss!

I believe that picture Is the original. The perspective is kind of skewed and different than what we normally saw it (I too grew up on that show). The center underneath pod seems a bit off center also. I think the artist was trying to draw as he was being transported.
